How Does Propecia Work?
Propecia is the only drug for treatment of DHT that has been approved by the FDA. This drug works by blocking the formation of DHT therefore stops the development of hair loss for men.
DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) is the natural metabolite of the human body that is the key factor for hair loss. It is the body substance that shrinks hair follicles and inhibits hair growth.
The use of Propecia proves to reduce further risk of hair loss and brings back the vertex hair visibly. It was specifically developed for treatment of mild to moderate male pattern hair loss for men.

This drug is not recommemded for women and children as it was specifically developed and tested for men only.
Like all synthetic medications, Propecia has its side effects, one of them and this is the reason why some stopped taking the drug is the loss of sexual desire, slight erectile dysfunction and the reduction of amount of semen. Though this side effect only occurred in less than 2% of users, some have been somewhat apprehensive in taking this drug.
This is not a magical potion, so do not expect results immediately, you need to take this drug daily for at least 3 months before you can see any visible result. If you have been trying Propecia for a year and nothing happen, it is most likely that no other drug can treat you.
Propecia is a long term drug, once you have your hair grown back; you still need to take it daily for maintenance. You are likely to loose the hair you have grown if you stopped treatment.
Results do vary of course, some men may regain hair growth within a few months but in some it may take a whole year. Do not expect though to regain all the hair you have lost. You will have sufficient hair but definitely not like when you were younger.
This drug contains active ingredients that may be harmful for an unborn child. A pregnant woman must not handle a broken Propecia tablet as it may cause abnormalities to the baby’s male organ. If an accident like this happens, it is best to consult a doctor immediately.
Propecia tablet are coated for protection and to avoid contact with the active ingredients though accidents can not be totally prevented, so it is better to be safe and throw away crushed or broken tablets.
